The City Speaks. A Film for Radio, from an idea by Peter Ackroyd

The Premiere screening of a BBC Radio 4 and Film London Artists'  
Moving Image Network co-production. Artist film-makers were  
commissioned to collaborate with Radio writers to produce a unique  
portrait of London for radio, cinema and television. Responding to a  
narrative framework by writer Peter Ackroyd, the artist and writer  
teams created a film in six sections. Taking as its starting point an  
anticipated apparition of the Virgin Mary, the film portrays London  
through an array of images and locations: a heart in a fridge, a  
synchronised swimming team, Caribbean mythical figures, East End  
cafes, markets and a non-existent underground station.

Including commissions from William Raban, Alnoor Dewshi, Sam Brady,  
Joe King & Rosie Pedlow, Inge Blackman and Esther Johnson.

Sunday 16th March.
The SCOLT HEAD screenings : SERIES 3 PROGRAMME.
The SCOLT HEAD, 107a Culford Road, London N1 4HT
Admission Free. Screenings start and 7pm. Food is served from midday  
until 10pm.

Invited artists present a selection of their works on film or video  
alongside a feature film of their choice,  irrespective of its  
influence on their practice. These Sunday evening screenings at The  
SCOLT HEAD aim to encourage an open dialogue about artists’ works on  
film and video.

Szuper Gallery presents “The Extras” (2005) and “I Will  
Survive” (2007)with “Opening Night” (1978, John Cassavetes)
